Our Houston, TX Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Team

At Empower Yourself PT our physical therapy approach is simple: At the end of the day, what do you want to achieve? What are your goals? Is it to play with your kids without back pain? Run a marathon? Do burpees or Zumba leak free?  You tell us! How much time can you commit to the pelvic floor physical therapy process- 5 minutes a day?  5 hours a week? No problem! We believe a little bit goes a long way, and that making small and realistic changes can help you reach the goals you want.

Together, we will create a plan of care that combines pelvic floor physical therapy with a home program to help you achieve them. As a team of pelvic floor specialists, Houston is our home and our patients’ home. We love working with local women to empower you to improve your pelvic health.

    MY MISSION

There are physical and mental changes that our bodies go through during the childbearing years. As a mom, I completely understand these stressors and the importance of healing our bodies to be the strongest version of ourselves.

It is my mission to educate women on the physical changes that our bodies undergo and work with you on an individualized plan to help you reach your optimum level of pelvic health and wellness. I believe it is important to accomplish this through one on one treatment sessions with your specific goals in mind.

Whether it is returning to the same activities or finding new ways of living a healthy life, I am here to walk beside you on your journey!

    MY MISSION

Originally from Austin and a graduate of the University of Texas, I moved to Houston to complete my doctorate in physical therapy at Texas Woman’s University. Having had the opportunity to pursue advanced pelvic health coursework, I completed my final internship in the pelvic health setting which solidified my interest in this field. Of the many reasons I enjoy working in this setting, I most enjoy getting to know my clients and playing a role in improving their quality of life.

So many forms of pelvic floor dysfunction are dismissed as “normal” and, for many, are dealt with in silence. While pelvic floor dysfunction may be common, it does not have to become your norm! I recognize how difficult (for a multitude of reasons) it can be to seek care for the sensitive issues we treat. My mission, first and foremost, is to create a welcoming, comfortable, and judgement-free environment to best ensure my clients feel heard and reach their goals. I believe the best treatment should be collaborative and specific to each client.

Beyond the physical therapy world, I love taking long walks (anywhere!), am learning to play the guitar, enjoy cycling, can be found swimming in any cold body of water, and try to find community in the spaces around me!

    MY MISSION

Throughout life, things happen and your body changes. For many, childbearing years are the most challenging; simply because we are too busy, too tired, and too overwhelmed to focus on our own health. At Empower Yourself PT it is our job to put you first and empower you to overcome your obstacles and reach your goals.

As pelvic floor specialists, we have advanced training in working with the muscles, nerves, connective tissue, fascia, ligaments, and joints of the pelvis, hips, abdomen, and back.

We treat women and men of all ages who are dealing with the following pelvic floor symptoms (and more!): diastasis recti, c-section and abdominal scar pain and restrictions, urinary urgency, urinary frequency, painful urination, feelings of heaviness or bulging in the vagina or rectum (pelvic organ prolapse), incomplete bowel emptying, pelvic pain, painful intercourse, constipation, leaking of urine or stool (urinary or fecal incontinence), and unexplained pain in the abdomen, low back, pelvic area, vagina, or rectum.

  • Alison is a dedicated advocate for pelvic health, driven by her own journey with chronic pelvic pain. Alison found hope through pelvic floor physical therapy after years of suffering from endometriosis and hip pain. Her personal journey has fueled her commitment to connecting people with quality care and a desire to help others navigate their own health challenges.

Alison has an MA in professional psychology. She is the co-founder of the Endometriosis Foundation of Houston, where she provides support, education, and resources to those affected by this underserved condition. Her unwavering dedication to the cause has positively impacted the lives of many individuals seeking guidance and empathy.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Alison enjoys dancing, especially ballet, baking, and spending time with her husband and their two special needs cats.
